Strengthening Vaccine Policy for Healthy Aging and Economic Growth in Japan
In a new landscape report launched in March 2026, GCOA, the Asia-Pacific Consortium on Healthy Aging and Adult Immunization (AP-CHAAI), and Japan's Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) analyze more than 100 policy documents and studies, finding that Japan is not fully realizing the benefits of adult vaccines due to structural barriers in financing and policy design that limit vaccine uptake among older adults.

At OECD headquarters in Paris, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Global Coalition on Aging (GCOA) jointly convened a full-day workshop bringing together senior leaders from government, business, labor, academia, and civil society to address a defining economic challenge: how aging societies can sustain growth by building healthier, more productive workforces. The Global Coalition on Aging (GCOA) led a panel discussion during the International Federation on Ageing 11th Global Conference on Ageing, in May 2012. The discussion explored the role of adult immunization to advance wellness and build effective prevention strategies across the life course. Experts on the topics of aging, health policy, economics, and immunization engaged in a dialogue on the value proposition of adult immunization and the path forward.

Educational Matters: The Impact of Educational Attainment on Worker Retirement Outlook
This 2010 survey from the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies highlights the correlation between educational attainment and retirement confidence among American workers, as well as their ability to save and plan for retirement. It also makes recommendations for outreach initiatives and public policy, including promoting available tax incentives, improving financial and retirement literacy, and expanding retirement plan coverage, to help improve retirement security among all workers.
