Building on the OECD-GCOA workshop and outcomes report on Building Healthy, Productive Workforces for the 21st Century, the infographic documents how preventable diseases cost G20 economies more than $1 trillion annually in lost productivity among adults 50 to 64, how workplace vaccination programs reduce sick leave by approximately 25%, and how vaccinating adults 50+ against four diseases could generate $281 billion in savings over 30 years in the United States alone. Adult immunization is a proven, high-ROI investment in workforce health and economic resilience, yet it remains underutilized as a tool in national health and economic strategies as populations age. GCOA and IFPMA call on governments to reframe vaccination as economic infrastructure, integrate adult immunization into workforce and NCD prevention strategies, expand access through on-site and pharmacy programs, and strengthen data systems to monitor uptake and disease burden.
